"I guess with so many people out of work right now, the hiring managers are being literally deluged with applicants. One woman in Seattle told me last week that she's getting 75 new resumes per day - for an assistant restaurant manager/part time server job!! They just don't have time to read, and read, and read a traditional, exhaustive list of qualifications and achievements anymore. You've got to figure out a way to make yours stand out, and your re-do of my resume, cover letter and list of references is doing just that! I'm getting much more traffic now, and when I talk with employers, they seem really interested in me. Thanks, Job Author!!" Matt, Marina, CA |
"I was unemployed when Job Author re-formatted and cleaned-up my resume. All of a sudden, I started getting email responses and phone interviews almost immediately after responding to a job posting, after over 3 months of nothing!" Paul, Santa Rosa, CA |
"I was unemployed for quite a long time and I was starting to get a bit depressed and confused about it all. I have great experience, accomplishments, stellar references - I couldn't figure out what the problem was. Then Job Author took a look at the resume I was sending out and they said that that was the problem. They were right - looks like I'll be getting a job offer later this week." CURRICULUM VITAE The term "curriculum vitae" comes from the Latin Curriculum (course) and Vitae (life): The course of one's life. A Curriculum Vitae (CV) resembles a resume in many ways, yet differs in that its primary focus is on Scientific, Medical or Academic backgrounds. A CV would be necessary if you have: * an advanced degree (typically doctoral level) * research accomplishments or scholastic activities * publications, dissertations, or manuscripts under review * fellowships, internships, or residencies A CV can also include more in depth personal information such as; date of birth, nationality and social interests. Generally, a CV is used for abroad job searches but a CV may be necessary for teaching or research opportunities, applying for fellowships or for further academic training in the U.S. Some research positions in the industry may also prefer a CV rather than a resume |
